Making Ingeo: Eco-Profile & LCA
If you replace the PET in 100,000 plastic food containers with Ingeo, you can save greenhouse gas emissions equal to driving a car 16,000 miles and non-renewable energy equal to 19 barrels of oil or 775 gallons of gasoline.
How do we know this? Data...and lots of it. We have developed, sponsored and published peer-reviewed eco-profiles and life cycle analysis (LCA) to help us quantify the environmental impact of Ingeo & products made with our polymer. Remember, developing an all new material like Ingeo is a journey. We continually invest in fundamental R&D to improve how we make Ingeo and its eco-profile.

From plants to plastics, making Ingeo is a completely new and innovative process. Our technology is found nowhere else in the world and finally provides a real eco-friendly option in many segments including food serviceware, fresh food packaging, electronics & durables, films, cards, nonwovens, apparel and home textiles.

Today, manufacturing Ingeo produces approximately 80% less greenhouse gases and uses approximately 60% less non-renewable energy (NREU) than traditional polymers like polystyrene. (1)
