February 2–4, 2005 - Ingeo™ Fiber Returns to Pitti Immagine Filati

Ingeo™ Fiber is proud to celebrate new and established partnerships
at this important international yarn forum.

February 2 – 4 2005 -
Pitti Immagine Filati, the most important international forum for yarns for knitwear in the world, will be the public launch pad for two new constructive partnerships: Ingeo fiber has established new agreements with important yarn producers Lanerossi and Lanificio Dell'Olivo.

Ingeo fiber – the first manmade fiber created from 100% renewable resources – is a novel product that combines the best of both worlds: the performance of a synthetic fiber and the advantages of a natural material. And because it is derived entirely from natural sources, Ingeo fiber contributes to reducing our dependence on limited fossil fuel resources such as oil (currently a considerable disadvantage of the textile industry at large).

Lanerossi Filati, a segment of the Marzotto Group, is a leading producer of yarn and threads for the clothing industry. Its products include wool, cotton, cashmere, angora, mohair and other prestigious blends. Now, beginning here at Pitti Filati, Lanerossi will also offer a new line of Ingeo fiber blends that share key characteristics like lightness, freshness and airy cling that makes them the perfect complement for warm weather months. This new collection is dedicated to natural fibers, and will present three absolute novelties made with Ingeo fiber :

• GEO: 100% Ingeo fiber (NM 17.000)
• BIO: 50% cotton, 50% Ingeo fiber (NM 17.000)
• LIN-GEO: 53% Ingeo fiber and 47% linen (NM 18.000)

The colors for this collection will concentrate on very soft tone-sur-tone mélanges that range from orange/yellow to denim/indigo to grey and light green.

Lanificio Dell'Olivo is a storied family company that has been operating in the yarn and thread sector since 1886. Combining innovation with tradition, the company has concentrated on creating new, high-quality threads over the past couple of decades, resulting in unique products that blend the best modern technology has to offer with the finest and wisest craftsmanship traditions.

At Pitti Immagine Filati, Lanificio Dell'Olivo will be presenting Royal Baby Alpaca, a brand new Ingeo fiber blend that was created in collaboration with the company's creative director, Pierluigi Fucci. This is the first time Royal Baby Alpaca has been blended with Ingeo fiber, a testament to the company's belief that Ingeo fiber can outperform a time-tested synthetic like Nylon. For this blend, the company will use Ingeo fibers' smooth Twist filament yarn, produced by Leitsu.

In addition to these novelties, Ingeo fiber will continue an established partnership with Manifattura Filati Lo Cicero. A partnership like this is the fruit of collaborative efforts designed to take advantage of Ingeo fibers unique performance and salable qualities. No other fiber on the planet provides such a complete offering of high performance, eco-friendly construction and proven salability. These are the reasons companies first chose Ingeo fiber, and the key factor in a continued partnership.

Manifattura Filati Lo Cicero has been creating special tricot and knitwear yarns for more than twenty years. At Pitti Immagine Filati, the company will be presenting a fresh, light line of yarns made from a mix of natural fibers, like GRANOTURCO realized with Ingeo fiber blended with cotton (NM 8.400), perfect for maintaining freshness and breathability.

Ingeo represents a new brand concept based on the principles of sustainability – economic viability, social responsibility and environmental soundness. Ingeo is the world's first manmade fiber derived from 100% annually renewable resources.
The process to make Ingeo fiber is based on the fermentation of simple plant sugars to create a proprietary polymer that can then be spun into a fiber. Ingeo fiber is ideally suited for a range of textile products and applications where it competes with traditional fibers on a price and performance basis.
