March 14, 2006 - Xtra-ordinario The new "bounce" behind Ennerev's uplifting success

Milan - March 14th 2006 - In an important moment for the industry like that which bedding companies are currently experiencing, there is only one path to recovering competitiveness: innovate and invest in research in order to create products with inimitable identities.

Even a simple mattress can prove different from all the rest.
A new revolution has arrived, brought forth by Ennerev - an Italian company located in the Trevigiana region - capable of creating a new, unique and patented technology for mattresses.

After years of experience accumulated in this sector, Ennerev is now launching a product whose name says it all: Xtra-ordinario. A name and a guarantee. Thanks to Xtra-ordinario, the spring system for mattresses will never by the same again. This is a new form of bedding that outclasses the methods and technologies utilized up until today, creating a new pathway into innovation thanks to its materials, manufacture, eco-sustainability and ergonometric valence.

Xtra-ordinario ushers in a new era for spring systems, revolutionary in terms of structure, padding, covering and recycling possibilities. It is a project that renders steel springs obsolete, introducing the market to a special new kind of spring created from a polyester-based thermoplastic material. Numerous different characteristics combine to render this new mattress unique:
  • Xtra-ordinario is modular: in order to assemble this mattress a particular technique has been adopted that excludes the use of gluing procedures in order to affix the components that cover the springs, making it possible to dismantle and recycle every single individual part of the product.
  • It is ergonometric: the composition of the springs makes it possible for each individual spring to move independently, rendering mattress performance optimal in terms of comfort and ability to adapt to the body's movements. It is also highly ecological: the materials utilized for the springs are considered "zero emission", and all the other mattress components are entirely recyclable thanks to their modular nature, making each individual section divisible from the whole.
  • Last but not least, the sheaths and outer covering are made entirely from 100% Ingeo™ fiber, the NatureWorks fiber created entirely from annually renewable resources like corn. This fiber offers the same performances as synthetic materials despite its entirely natural origins. It is a novel polymer that contributes to reducing our dependence on limited, polluting resources like oil. What's more, the production process utilized to create Ingeo™ fiber reduces to a bare minimum the emission of damaging gases, a fact testified by its recognition through REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) certification. These two factors, from process to product, both contribute to making Xtra-ordinario an effective innovation in the field of environmentally-friendly production.

Results like these are not achieved by chance. Research has always constituted the fulcrum of Ennerev's activities. In particular, in order to undertake this project, Ennerev invested 250 thousand Euro, and expects to raise its 2006 budget to 1 million Euro, setting aside 5% of its earnings from sales over the next three years to sustain this endeavor. Therefore, a considerable portion of the company's earnings will be allocated for this research, equal to 15 million euros in 2005. In this manner, Ennerev will be able to further guarantee its leading position in the market, a position consolidated over fifty years of hard work, thanks to a vertical corporate structure that has 110 employees laboring to follow every step of the production phase for mattresses, frames and textile beds.

Xtra-ordinario, first introduced in January of 2006, will have its initial "baptism" this April at Milan's Salon del Mobile. This moment will also mark the beginning of its distribution on the market. At the same time, the company will be making a strong bid on the international front thanks to promising anticipated results connected with the product's launch in many European areas, as well as North America.
