Ingeo™ Fiber Hometextiles Illuminate Milan Together with an array of international partners, Ingeo™ fiber will participate in Milan's acclaimed international design fair, culminating with a specially designed eco-compatible house located in the city center.
O mia bella Madonina O beautiful little Madonna Che te brillet de lontan, shining from afar, Tutta d'òra e piscinina All golden and minute Ti te dòminet Milan... You rule over Milan.
April 14th through the 18th, Milan's Bella Madonina will shine down on more than the Duomo's beautiful Baroque façade and crowded Central Square. This location will also play host to the Salone del Mobile, one of the most globally influential design fairs of the year. This five-day event will be highlighted by the public presentation of a specially designed eco-compatible house in the Piazza Duomo. The bedroom of this house has been designated as a showcase for bedding including covers, blankets, cushions, mattresses, curtains and more, all made using nature-based Ingeo fiber.
At its best, European culture weds timeless tradition with contemporary innovation, and the Salone del Mobile is a case in point. Here Europe's best local craftsmanship traditions are placed at the service of modern design. Ingeo fiber takes the equation one step further, offering a modern, environmentally friendly material that has quickly won over professionals and the public alike.
Ingeo fiber is the first manmade fiber created from 100% renewable resources – a product that combines the best of both worlds: the performance of a synthetic fiber and the advantages of a natural material. And because it is derived entirely from natural sources, Ingeo fiber contributes to reducing our dependence on limited fossil fuel resources such as oil.
A mere 24 months after its initial launch, Ingeo fiber is now present in over 5,500 retail locations in the home furnishings and textiles market. At the Salone, Ingeo fiber partners and client companies will be displaying products created with Ingeo fiber not only at stands within the fair itself, but in stores and public locations throughout the city. Bedding, for example, in the Pedano store (viale Umbria, 120) will be presenting mattresses created from 100% Ingeo fiber, Bossi will be presenting duvets created from 100% Ingeo fiber in its showroom in Via Solferino 7 and Ennerev in the Milano Notte store (Via Sebastiano del Piombo, 17) will be presenting mattresses created from 100% Ingeo fiber.
Within the fair complex, Sealy Europe (Hall 5, Floor 2, Stand F02), the world's leading mattress producer, will be presenting “Granriposo” and “Sinfonia”, innovative mattresses made with Ingeo fiber, that is going to amplify their mattress range presented last October. Sealy Europe is already well known for its significant investment in the sector, financing research that has resulted in real and innovative benefits for consumers across the globe. The use of Ingeo fiber in Sealy Europe's bedding products is merely another step in an innovative process that the company has conducted for over 120 years.
Under its “Salvadori Srl” brand name, Zigflex (Hall 5, Floor 2, Stand H13) has been operating in the bedding market for over 30 years, providing mattresses and ergonomic wood and iron bed frames. At the Salone, Zigflex will be presenting for the second time at Salone del Mobile a wider selection of their Ingeo fiber mattresses, available nationwide in Italy.
Renowned Italian bedding producer A. Molina (Hall 13, Floor 2, Stand B16) will also be presenting pillows and duvets in 100% Ingeo fiber.
Ingeo fiber is also pleased to announce the creation of two important new partnerships with the Italian home furnishings companies; Roda (Hall 13, Floor 1, Stand A05) and Ivano Redaelli (Hall 19, Stand D18), both opening up a brand new application for Ingeo fiber, debuting new Ingeo fiber - based furnishings products at the Salone del Mobile.
Ivano Redaelli (www.ivanoredaelli.it) is a company specialized in high-end products for bedroom furnishing, including beds, bedding, cushions and dedicated to international markets. Redaelli's products are produced with the assistance of ELKAM. Using 100% Ingeo fiber, Ivano Redaelli has created a series of lounge cushions for the bedroom that guarantee softness, hypoallergenic material and total comfort.
Roda is an Italian company specializing in interior garden design, producing furnishings for gardens and patios characterized by elegance, comfort and long-lasting quality. For the 2005 edition of the Salone del Mobile, Roda has created “Net-Work,” a new line of furniture designed by Rodolfo Dordoni that includes sofas, armchairs and chaises-longues created by ELKAM with Ingeo fiberfill. Ingeo fiber proved the perfect partner for the company's new adventure into interior furnishings, guaranteeing fiberfill that is hypoallergenic, resistant and retains its shape over time.
These companies, as have others, rely on Ingeo fiber to provide their products with more than just a “green” pedigree. Ingeo fiber backs up its sound environmentally friendly reputation with proven high performance characteristics that are an asset for the entire home textile industry. Ingeo fiber is hypoallergenic and does not support bacterial proliferation. It regains its voluminous consistency after being compressed, is low maintenance and, thanks to its natural origins, can be composted. In independent testing for smoke generation (ASTM E1354), fabrics made from untreated Ingeo fiber generated significantly less visible smoke than fabrics made from untreated polyester. Ingeo fiber also provides excellent insulating performance. And fabrics created from Ingeo fiber wash easily, resist wrinkles and never need ironing.
In short, Ingeo fiber is a panacea for the home textile industry, providing producers and consumers alike with a revolutionary new fiber that can outperform established textiles while reducing impact on the environment.
But perhaps the most impressive display of Ingeo fiber's capabilities will be made outside the Salone del Mobile, in the eco-compatible house Ecomade will set up in Milan's central Piazza Duomo. The house showcases all the product applications already available on the market, making it a vehicle for educating visitors about the kind of conscientious consumer choices they can start making today.
We're confident the Bella Madonina will be smiling…
