Flexible films made with NatureWorks polymer have shown outstanding toughness and tear strength, providing and advantage over paper, especially when wet. New advancements such as NatureWorks polymer-acceptable adhesives, coatings, anti-block additives and anti-static agents, have also increased the application opportunities for multilayer films and biaxial oriented films. NatureWorks polymer can be oriented on both conventional, sequential-cast tentering and simultaneously stretching equipment. Draw ratios typical of polyester films have been achieved and can result in biaxially oriented NatureWorks films as thin as 8 microns. NatureWorks polymer films offer a cost-effective alternative to cellophane, oriented nylon and oriented polyester films for confectionery and bakery packaging, body sleeve over wraps and flexible packaging laminations.
