Source Options
In 2005, NatureWorks LLC began offering more feedstock choices for customers who view raw material sources as an important market issue. Read the original press release.
For current and prospective customers, there are 3 feedstock-source choices when buying Ingeo:
1st Option
GeneScan Certified NatureWorks offers 3rd-party certification that Ingeo is free of any genetic material. Testing is provided by GeneScan Inc., which is recognized by both government and NGO's as the leading authority for testing food, feed and raw materials.

2nd Option
Source Offset For every pound of Ingeo biopolymer delivered to the customer, NatureWorks will purchase the amount of source-certified GM-free corn needed to produce the resin. Since it is not possible to sort the streams, the GM-free corn is mixed with conventional corn.

3rd Option
Identity Preserved For a specially made batch of Ingeo biopolymer, customers will be able to verify the source of dextrose and the absence of any genetic material from the point of origin through all steps of resin production. Our commitment to production is contingent on the customer following longer lead times and guaranteeing volumes. |
