NatureWorks Grows Distribution Network for Ingeo into Israel

NatureWorks LLC inks new partnership with Jolybar in Israel for a new integrated logistics and resin distribution

MINNETONKA, Minn., October 3, 2008 – NatureWorks LLC is pleased to announce a third-this-year distribution partnership agreement in resin supply with the Jolybar Group for their new Ecojo packaging line in Israel. This strategic agreement signals NatureWorks long term commitment to broadening its unique and highly efficient level of service for the quick response and practical supply of Ingeo biopolymer resin for the packaging and foodservice industries. It is another sign that the market for Ingeo natural plastic resins is growing fast and that NatureWorks is in readiness to supply it.

Ecojo was established as a division of the Jolybar group specifically to develop a manufactured eco-packaging business in Israel using bioplastics made from renewable plant resources. The group’s mission is to work with local packaging and food service companies to provide a wide range of products made of eco-materials. Ecojo was founded in 2008 to coordinate and apply this effort and it was clear that using Ingeo bioplastic, which is made from plants instead of oil, would become the leading resin of choice for this endeavour.

Ofer Ben Yishay CEO of JOLYBAR comments , “With Ecojo we are using a family of eco-sensible materials from around the world and now with Ingeo, we can scale our efforts to a mainstream level supplying high quality performance biopolymer materials that help us as a business develop our mission to take part in the effort for improving the future of the planet”

Ingeo represents an ingenious new material that’s made from plants not oil. The many environmental benefits that come with this new natural plastic material include that it’s derived entirely from annually renewable plant resources. Ingeo innovations also use 65% percent less fossil fuel resources than the traditional polymers such as PET, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80-90%

Building on the last 5 years of market development, NatureWorks, Jolybar’s Ecojo range and Ingeo can respond to the growing global demand for more eco-sensible materials and secure better and faster distribution of biopolymer resins throughout the supply chain so that everyone everywhere in Israel can now make better choices in how they shop and live.

“I know that Jolybar with their Ecojo line really understand this new need to provide better more environmental solutions and with their experience and knowledge of the complex plastics industry I know they can leverage the extra value from more sustainable raw materials. I am confident they will deploy their full resources to guarantee the secure supply of our revolutionary Ingeo resin, making them our natural choice as we extend our logistics reach into the dynamic market in Israel. We look forward to a strong partnership” comments Mark Vergauwen, European Commercial Manager of NatureWorks LLC.

NatureWorks LLC, Jolybar and Ingeo: making businesses work better for everyone to make better choices. Better for the planet, so better for consumers and ultimately better for business too.

The new business reality that comes from this invention brings a new meaning of how to do business differently today: to make contemporary goods with a natural origin, to bring performance without compromise and to make products that have a powerful environmental message to the consumer who is looking for better choices.
