Ingeo™ Earth Month, a journey towards change

MINNETONKA, Minn., April 22, 2008 – NatureWorks LLC marks its fourth annual Ingeo Earth Month with a journey around the world with a broad range of brands and retailers now selling Ingeo innovations, proof positive that responsible innovation has indeed come to everyday life.

Starting on 22nd April, the 4th Ingeo Earth Month edition opens in conjunction with United Nations Earth Day and runs through to World Environment Day on 5th June. Created by NatureWorks LLC three years ago, Ingeo Earth Month has become a dynamic calendar moment for bio-business and media alike. With a unique series of integrated global and local media events, discussions, exhibitions and retail initiatives NatureWorks has shown how the tangible reality of Responsible Innovation is now impacting on the mainstream consumer today.

Throughout this time, and ongoing, you will be able to find a multitude of Ingeo innovation products available for sale at retail throughout the high streets and supermarkets of Italy, Germany, UK and Benelux as well as a strong presence in China. And, to amplify this retail activity, NatureWorks will host a series of creative roadshows in three key cities in the US, France and Japan. Opening in New York, and then moving to Paris and on to Tokyo, NatureWorks drives an agenda for a better understanding on how to live better through a series of Pop-Up Exhibitions, Ingeo Creative Galleries and Round Table Panel discussions. Together, they create an intriguing journey of discovery about all the new and more sustainable, creative and beautiful lifestyle products now available in stores all around the world.

The first step in these key city events is to witness a provocative photographic display by eco-artist Chris Jordan, setting the scene through a collection of visual essays on mass consumption. This is followed by a series of gallery vignettes of Ingeo products designed as a solution response by industry innovators to some of these environmental issues. And finally, customers will be able to join in lively debates at each of our Round Table discussions focusing on how responsible innovation is becoming part of all our lives today. No longer a niche, but a serious and credible option for all as a means to choose better without compromising on personal taste or design. Better products available today that are better for the planet, so better for everyone, business, communities and discerning consumers alike.

The message and mission behind Ingeo Earth Month of is to transform how consumers think, act and shop. And by choosing Ingeo natural plastics and fiber products that come from 100% annually renewable plant resources means each individual is taking direct action towards changing the way we think about the environment without sacrificing anything.

Testament to the power of these eco-focused products, Ingeo innovations are now available across more than 20 product categories, produced by more than 100 industry partners in over 70,000 stores worldwide. This growth makes it simpler for consumers to find the Ingeo label on many of the products they buy on a daily basis in regular stores throughout their local high streets.

To help illustrate the variety and depth of Ingeo products available today, NatureWorks LLC has again produced an Ingeo Earth Month LookBook of all the new products on offer in 2008, from durable appliances to cosmetic casings, and electronics plus a full selection of fresh food packaging and food serviceware. Add to that, a completely different type of product in the shape of Ingeo fiber applications for clothing, the home, and personal care disposable products as well as landscape fabrics for the garden and patio.

This LookBook is a clear demonstration of the resonance that responsible innovation has for consumers today and that these Ingeo lifestyle products can deliver that reality. This is only possible through the participation of a complete global supply chain who has adopted responsible innovation as their motivation by choosing to use Ingeo instead of oil-based polymers.

Ingeo is a commercially available low carbon footprint polymer derived from 100 percent annually renewable resources with cost and performance that compete with petroleum-based plastics and fibers. The manufacturing of Ingeo bioplastics uses 65 percent less fossil fuels and produces 80-90 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional polymers. The data shows this new biopolymer to possess one of the lowest carbon footprints of any commercially available bioplastic making it a compelling choice for many of consumers everyday needs. All of this from a brand that can now give them beautiful products with a natural origin that brings performance without compromise as well as a powerful environmental message.
