Ingeo Innovations Go Full Circle at Interpack

NatureWorks LLC and Ingeo™ bioplastic packaging innovations working together to provide balanced environmental solutions for the 21st Century.

DÜSSELDORF, April 24, 2008 – Interpack, the key global trade exhibition designed to showcase the latest developments in packaging, hosts a dedicated environmental section, organized by European Bioplastics, in which NatureWorks LLC will participate. NatureWorks LLC will present the commercial reality of Ingeo natural plastic innovations, across a complete assortment of responsible packaging designs, as well as some interesting Ingeo fiber innovations for clothing, home and personal care, confirming it as the complete environmental lifestyle brand of choice for consumers today.

NatureWorks LLC is pleased to inform partners and brands that upscale production is on course to deliver the volumes necessary to match growing market needs and that a new European supply chain strategy is in place to meet that expansion. An important aspect of this strategy is the agreement with a new pan-European distribution partner, extending NatureWorks’ reach into all European member states.

When you visit the NatureWorks booth (Hall 7a – Stand D17) inside the European Bioplastic Pavilion, you will be able to see and experience innovations from our commercial partners in the Ingeo Creative Gallery, where key packaging categories for fresh foods, serviceware, beverage solutions, films applications and foam innovations will be displayed.

Partners’ products included in our Creative Gallery include seven key applications:

  • Bodin from France is paving the way with new Ingeo Foam Tray designs for fresh meat, fish and cheese. The trays are supplied by Coopbox, an Italian company which produces a new line of containers for fresh food, Naturalbox®, in 100% Ingeo. The structure of the material is such that excess liquids are easily absorbed, keeping the fresh food in peak condition. Conventional production systems can be applied including the use of thermo sealed lids and films, while modified printing techniques give excellent results maintaining rigidity and form.
  • Ingeo durable casings for cosmetics are represented by Cargo Cosmetics with their Cargo Plant Love collection, with which Cargo won the award for the best ECO-friendly packaging in show at the HBA Global Expo.
  • UK based packaging manufacturer Nude Pack produces a range of Ingeo shrink sleeves made of EarthFirst® films, all exhibiting good gloss, transparency and printability for the final layer in more responsible packaging solutions.
  • Beverage solutions are represented with Ingeo bottles by Sant’Anna from Italy and display better rigidity, good clarity and excellent flavor and aroma barrier properties making them ideal for juice and still water.
  • Ingeo Fresh food packaging containers for Kiwi fruit, realized in thermoformed Ingeo film by Heuchemer, will be shown by Zespri. This product is distributed by Lorentzen & Sievers in Germany.
  • Swangold will present their new Ingeo containers for fresh herbs, all with excellent gloss, transparency, and clarity that is very easy to shape, print and emboss.
  • CDS is an Italian leading company in food serviceware. They specialize in making plastic disposable cutlery, and they have recently developed a new Ingeo cutlery line and so switch to using plastics that come from 100% annually renewable resources.

Moreover, a thermoforming and sealing demonstration with Ingeo foil and film will be made at the Marchesini Group booth in hall 8A- Stand F05/G16, using Farcon machine model FB220.

The foil will be supplied by MP3, the foil manufacturing division of Group ILPA in Italy, which has been a NatureWorks partner for five years together with ILIP division, specializing in the food serviceware, fresh food packaging categories and disposable tableware.

The film will be supplied by Polyfilms, an independent company based in France with a considerable experience with Ingeo films, supplying Europe across a wide variety of different applications that includes sealed lids applications.

Farcon is specialized in Pharma packaging thermoforming machines, producing trays for vials, ampoules and syringes. As part of the Italian Marchesini Group, they remain one of the most innovative in their field, a demonstration of which, in partnership with NatureWorks BV, will be presented on their stand during Interpack.

NatureWorks is committed to supporting these partners’ research, investment and products through the Ingeo brand, demonstrated by the launch of the 4th edition of the Ingeo Earth Month which begins April 22nd and runs through to June 5th. The event will host a series of events, exhibitions, round table discussions and commercial sales platforms, confirming Ingeo is an alternative lifestyle reality that is now selling in more than 20 product application categories produced by over 100 commercial partners in as many as 70,000 retail outlets worldwide.
