NatureWorks LLC partners with the RESINEX group to guarantee a new integrated logistics and distribution system for Ingeo resin in Europe

MINNETONKA, Minn., September 1, 2008 – NatureWorks LLC is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Resinex Group in Europe. This agreement signals the Resinex Group’s commitment to a new level of service and supply to all European member states of Ingeo™ biopolymer for the packaging and foodservice industries starting September 1, 2008.

The RESINEX Group specializes in the supply of a full range of premium raw and blended materials to plastic molders and converters around the world. As part of the Ravago Group, the No.1 global service provider to the plastics industry, RESINEX has a network of centrally located warehousing facilities throughout Europe and Turkey; With an ISO 9001 for service, the company can now supply anything form one bag to full truckloads of Ingeo resin with a fast delivery service, making it the integrated one-stop-shop of choice for packaging converters throughout the EU member states.

RESINEX was founded in Belgium in 1988 and has annual sales of more than half a million metric tones and a turnover of 860 million Euros. Resinex is the distribution channel of choice designed to provide a fast and effective supply of Ingeo biopolymer, one that matches the growing demand for more responsible materials that help preserve limited fossil fuel resources. Along with leveraging the planned increased Ingeo production, this agreement confirms that there is a new dynamic for the plastics industry: doing business differently, using greener raw materials with a clever scientific, but natural origin, and bringing performance without compromise.

“We see NatureWorks LLC and its Ingeo resin as a strategic partner for us because at RESINEX we recognize NatureWorks’ leading position in the biopolymer industry. We pride ourselves on a superior service based on quality and reliability and Ingeo brings an extra dimension of responsible innovation to the way we partner with suppliers and customers," said Jan de Pauw of the RESINEX Group.

Ingeo represents an ingenious new material that’s made from plants not oil. The many environmental benefits that come with this new natural plastic material include that it’s derived entirely from annually renewable plant resources. Ingeo innovations also use 65% percent less fossil fuel resources than the traditional polymers such as PET, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80-90% from cradle to pellet.

Building on the last 5 years of market development, NatureWorks and RESINEX, with Ingeo, can match the growing demand in Europe for more environmentally friendly bioplastics and secure better and faster distribution of resins throughout the supply chain so that everyone, everywhere can make better choices.

“RESINEX understands the dynamic and complexity of the plastics industry in Europe and will leverage its full resources to guarantee the secure supply of Ingeo resin, making them the natural choice for us in Europe. We look forward to a strong partnership with them," comments Mark Vergauwen, European Commercial Manager at NatureWorks LLC.

NatureWorks LLC, RESINEX and Ingeo: making businesses work better for everyone to make better choices. Better for the planet, so better for consumers and ultimately better for business too.
