A New Style of Pens Combine Design, Performance and Responsibility for the First Time

MADRID, February 11, 2009 – NatureWorks LLC is pleased to support Stilolinea as they showcase their new Ingeo innovation at Expo Reclam 2009 in Madrid from 11-13 of February. The show, organised by Reed Exhibitions Iberia, is already the key reference point for industry professionals in the promotional business in Southern Europe and is also the second most important show on the continent. Stilolineas’s new range of pens sets new standards of design and introduces a new Ingeo application at a global trade level .

Stilolinea has been in the promotional manufacturing business since the early 1970s and holds a prestigious position in the national and international markets as a producer of high quality pens. Under the strategic renewal of its product range, the company has focused on very specific guidelines to guarantee the flow of innovation of new items for the pens market.

Firstly, Stilolinea recognizes the increasing importance and need to help protect the environment and maintain the planet’s natural balance. Recognizing public opinion for the importance of earth friendly products, the company decided to develop pens that were environmentally sensible and responsible by using the new Ingeo natural plastic. Ingeo is an eco-innovative material that is made 100% from annually renewable plant resources instead of oil. Stilolinea and NatureWorks agreed to name the new eco Ingeo pen using NatureWorks’ Ingeo trademark and logo.

Stilolinea recognizes the importance of good design in product development, even if the pens are at their most simple and affordable, they still must adopt a beauty of line that embodies the spirit of creativity and economic significance that comes out of pure Italian innovation. With this objective as cornerstone of their product development strategy, Stilolinea, in addition to the Ingeo pen , showing a new pen called "S!" at Expo Reclam in Madrid. The pen has been created in collaboration with the Italian designer Enrico Fumia of Fumia Associates, who is recognized for his work on grand marques automobiles and well known product brands for more than 30 years.

Dr. Carretto, Executive of the company, confirms “ Stilolinea is completely committed to both innovation and environmental issues, and that is why we collaborate with leaders in each field such as Mr. Fumia for the most cutting edge designs and NatureWorks for working with us to develop the most contemporary innovative and eco-sensible raw materials. Both are important ingredients in our plan to offer the best, most relevant and exciting products to our customers.”

With a close cooperation with NatureWorks LLC, Stilolinea anticipates a growth of responsible and innovative products within their range and NatureWorks looks forward to refining and developing their injection molding grade materials to enable a wider variety of lifestyle application partnerships.

“Stilolinea is the natural choice partner for us to refine our injection molding technologies because they can convert our expertise into something consumers want and we look forward to a strong partnership with them” comments Mark Vergauwen, European Commercial Manager of NatureWorks LLC.

Designed by NatureWorks LLC to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, Ingeo is being used for many essential lifestyle products today and now this includes high quality promotional pens. This means consumers can choose, in a more responsible way, options including pens produced with natural material and not oil, with consequent environmental benefits like a reduction in the percentage (65-80%) of fossil fuel in manufacturing compared to traditional plastics and, a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50 percent. Ingeo natural plastic is therefore a unique catalyst for low carbon footprint products and a more environmentally sensible option for this new generation of pens from Stilolinea. And not only do these new pens combine Technology and Environmental attributes they have more disposal options being made from a natural based plastic. The Ingeo plastic components of these pens have been DIN CERTCO certified as compostable in industrial facilities when available. Altogether a better plastic pen choice than ones made from fossil fuel resources!

NatureWorks LLC, Stilolinea and Ingeo: making designed, high quality and technology savvy stationary products work better for everyone to choose better. Better for the planet, so better for customers, consumers and ultimately better for business too.
