Ingeo Serviceware at Sirha 2009

NatureWorks LLC presents new Ingeo low impact products at Sirha 2009 in Lyon, France.

LYON, France, January 26, 2009 – NatureWorks LLC is pleased to support its European Ingeo packaging partners at the upcoming Sirha exhibition in Lyon, France. Sirha is a unique International Hotel Catering and Food Trade Exhibition that sets worldwide catering trends. 2000 exhibitors and brands (450 international), 6000 chefs and more than 120 countries will get together from January 24–29 at Eurexpo in Lyon, France. As a true melting pot for talents and taste from around the world, the event will offer exceptional moments in the form of major international contests in addition to creating a meeting point for catering professionals including producers, buyers, hotel managers, distributors, wholesalers, and other professionals of the catering sector from all over the world

Ingeo serviceware products will be showcased within the Ilip Bio, stand 6A49 and I.P.I, stand 4C21 at the fair. Ingeo represents an ingenious new material that is made from plants, not oil, with the added benefit that it is derived entirely from annually renewable plant resources. Compared to traditional oil based plastics, Ingeo innovations significantly reduce both fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions (compared to PET for example, reducing these by 56% and 77% respectively) . Additionally, all grab-and-go serviceware products and in general packaging styles whether rigid, film or foam-based made from Ingeo natural plastic perform as well or better in comparison to those made from conventional oil-based plastics. Ingeo has excellent clarity, gloss and rigidity. It keeps food fresh with good aroma barrier properties and is easy to transform, shape, emboss and print. And, being a natural biopolymer, Ingeo serviceware offers the potential for more disposal and recovery options.

Ingeo partners presenting at Sirha 2009 include:

  • ILIP has become through the years one of the most important industrial companies in Italy in the field of converting plastic materials into products. Destined for modern large-scale retailing organizations, wholesalers and catering organizations, ILIP’s output includes over 200 different plastic tableware items, grouped into seven different lines. ILIP offers a complete line of dishes, plates, glasses and containers made from Ingeo and designed to be disposed of responsibly causing minimum impact on the resources and the environment.
  • I.P.I specializes in the manufacture and creation of thermoplastic food serviceware for in-flight catering, rail travel and cruise ships as well as disposables for packaging distributors, food service and supermarkets. For the first time, they introduce Ingeo cutlery in their product range.

NatureWorks, Ilip Bio, I.P.I and Ingeo making responsible innovation with performance a better choice today for all. Better for the planet and so better for consumers and business too.

About NatureWorks
NatureWorks LLC is a company dedicated to meeting the world’s needs today without compromising the earth’s ability to meet the needs of tomorrow. NatureWorks LLC is the first company to offer a family of commercially available low carbon footprint biopolymers derived from 100 percent annually renewable resources with performance and economics that compete with oil-based plastics and fibers. The production of these biopolymers uses less fossil fuel and emits fewer green-house gases than conventional polymers. The company applies its proprietary technology to process natural plant sugars to make Ingeo biopolymer, which is then used uniquely to make and market finished products also under the Ingeo brand name.
